Holy Trinity Students Take Part in Student Vote Canada 🗳️

This week, students at Holy Trinity School embraced democracy in action by participating in Student Vote Canada! This hands-on learning experience provided students with the opportunity to engage in the electoral process, practice informed citizenship, and cast their own ballots in a parallel election.

By taking part in Student Vote Canada, students gained valuable insights into how elections work, the importance of voting, and the impact of their voices in shaping the future. Through this initiative, they not only learned about government and leadership but also developed critical thinking skills to make informed decisions as future voters.

We extend our gratitude to CIVIX Canada – FR and Elections Canada for making this enriching experience possible in our schools. Their efforts continue to empower young Canadians with the knowledge and confidence to participate in democracy.

The race itself was an exciting highlight, with classmates, teachers, and staff cheering on the participants as they sped across the field. This event has quickly become a treasured tradition at Holy Trinity, and we look forward to even more students joining in next year.

Holy Trinity Students Learn Cross-Country Skiing with Spirit North ⛷

Students from Mrs. Hawke, Mrs. Meyer, and Mr. DiCosmo’s classes had an exciting opportunity to explore cross-country skiing today, thanks to Finn from Spirit North. The students focused on mastering the basics of skiing, practicing their movements through a variety of fun activities and games.

Once they had built their skills, they took their new abilities to the test, skiing across the school yard and even tackling a thrilling downhill run! It was a day full of laughter, learning, and adventure as students gained a deeper appreciation for the winter sport.

A special thank you to Finn and Ma. Stacey for making this experience possible and for providing the students with such a memorable and educational opportunity.

Miigwech and thank you again to Spirit North for sharing your expertise and passion for skiing with our students!

Grade 4/5 Students Create Bird Feeders with Home Depot Kits 🛠

The Grade 4/5 class at Holy Trinity School recently engaged in a unique and educational hands-on project with the support of Home Depot. Under the guidance of Ms. Couroux, students built their very own bird feeders using Home Depot Kits.

Each student played an important role in assembling their bird feeder, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the wonderful results! This project is a testament to the innovative spirit and dedication of both our students and teachers, as they work together to bring learning to life and make a positive impact on the environment.

Stay tuned for more engaging, hands-on learning experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom!

Celebrating the 100th Day of School at Holy Trinity 🎊

Holy Trinity recently marked an exciting milestone for this year’s learners – the 100th day of school. This special day provided an opportunity for students to celebrate their learning journey thus far and reflect on their achievements.

The day was filled with engaging activities that allowed students to count, create, and celebrate 100 days of progress. It was a wonderful occasion to highlight the growth, hard work, and joy experienced by our students so far this school year. Our Kindergarten even embraced the theme of the day by dressing as if they were 100 years old, complete with gray hair and cane accessories.

We are incredibly proud of the progress all our students have made, and we look forward to the continued learning, growth, and success in the days ahead.

Here’s to many more milestones to come!

Celebrating Family Literacy Day at Holy Trinity 📖

Today, Holy Trinity School had the privilege of celebrating Family Literacy Day with an exciting series of activities that brought the joy of reading to life. Our students and staff dressed as their favorite storybook characters, creating an atmosphere of creativity and imagination. From beloved heroes to whimsical creatures, the day was filled with enthusiasm for literature.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this day a success. The event showcased the power of reading and how it can bring people together, fostering a lifelong love of books.

Here are some of the highlights from today’s celebration:

  • Mrs. Yoon, Ms. Brittany, Ms. Paige, and Ms. Nancy’s FDK Class: The students in this class enjoyed reading Stephanie’s Ponytail, as well as other favorite stories. The day was filled with shared moments of joy, family time, and tasty treats.
  • Mrs. Yasko, Mr. Vicedomini, Ms. Julie, and Mr. Nick’s Kindergarten Classes: Families joined their children for a cozy reading session, complete with PJs and shared stories. Each child had the opportunity to create a bookmark to take home as a keepsake of this special day.

With props and enthusiasm, the students performed for their parents, delivering a heartwarming and magical presentation.

Holy Trinity is truly grateful to have had the opportunity to share such a meaningful celebration of reading with our students and their families. As we reflect on the highlights of this day, we look forward to continuing to inspire and encourage a love of reading within our school community for all current and future learners in our care.

Redbird’s Taco ‘Bout Mental Health! 🌮

This year, Holy Trinity School proudly participated in the Bell Let’s Talk initiative, aiming to raise awareness and spark meaningful conversations about mental health. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to four incredible students—Sofia, Aimelia, Bella, and Anya—along with Ms. Michelle, for bringing their creative vision to life with the “Let’s Taco ‘Bout It!” Day.

The students crafted interactive paper tacos, each filled with a range of emotions like stressed, happy, hopeful, and anxious. These tacos provided a fun and approachable way to reflect on and express our feelings, helping everyone connect and engage in open conversations about mental health.

Throughout the day, we visited 11 classrooms, discussing the importance of mental health, identifying various emotions, and exploring healthy coping strategies. We were also thrilled to have Coach Logan and player Louis from the Sudbury Five basketball team join us. They shared their personal experiences with stress and mental health, offering an inspiring message of honesty, resilience, and strength.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this day a success. Special thanks to Coach Logan and Louis for sharing their stories and reminding us all of the importance of taking care of our mental well-being.
